A Day Out with the Portable Track
Our portable track gets a few outings over the summer.
Last Sunday was such a day, and I took the opportunity
to take some photos - it was a good excuse to get out
of the heavy work! For some strange reason, when I got
home I discovered I'd not taken any photos of anything running?
Most of the photos were taken during the setting up of the
track:
Ready to start, let's get the cover off the trailer.
OK, the covers are off, let's get started.
Everything but the track unloaded, now the heavy stuff begins.
Starting to unload the track sections.
Unloading Track sections.
All unloaded, that's supposed to be a straight line!!
Assembling the track sections.
Almost there...
That's a bit nearer to a straight line.
That's the track laid out.
Putting up the fence to keep the public back.
Putting the station together...
Levelling the track to get the bumps out.
Is that level?
Maybe a little more packing under that side?
Now this here gazebo. If it takes two men one minute to erect it...
How long will it take half a dozen?
I think that's a bit too far, those bits in the middle shouldn't
be sticking up yet.
Have we lost the roof canvas?
No, it's here somewhere...
Over she goes!
There should be some press-studs here somewhere.
Have we got them all, now?
OK, up she goes!
Now we stretch it out to the full size.
And there we have a gazebo, or station canopy, or whatever.
A few finishing touches to the station area.
Don't forget the advertising material.
And it's complete. Only took 90 minutes!
It's all over, shift this gazebo out of the way.
Dismantling the station.
Dismantling the track.
The heavy work - loading the track onto the trailer.
End of a grand day out.
