The New 2.5" Gauge Track

The first section of the 2.5" gauge track being laid.
This is on the section from the steaming bay traverser to
the swinging link into the main track.

Barry Harrison working on the 2.5" rail. After vehement
protests, I have obscured Barry's sensitive area from the
photo. Click if you want to see the real thing....

Looking up the track. The loop at the far end overlooks
the lily pond.

The lower end of the track with the steaming bays on the left.

placing the last screws to complete the 2.5" rail.

Barry bringing his 2.5" Crab onto the new track for the first
test drive. (August 8th, 2007)
|
Barry sets off on the first lap of the test run. Needless to say,
despite dire prognostications from the other Barrie (Big-Engine),
the Crab did two laps non-stop, and still had half a tank full
of water. Barry (Little-Engine) is confident that it could do
four laps non-stop, but declined to verify this claim.
|
(15th August)
Barry has authenticated his claim, in fact he surpassed it today
by running 5 laps without stopping for water. Now, all he has to
do is get it to run around the track without derailing that front
bogie!
(Later still)
Barry now claims that he did 6 laps, but I remain unconvinced....
